Sports seasons can play havoc with efforts to actually cook in your kitchen. This year, the local football team (south jersey people generally are Eagles' fans) has gotten further along toward the dreaded Super Ball than in previous years, and excitement is at a premium.
Anyway, the result of all this in many households around here is long lines at the grocery store (especially the deli), the liquor store, and every traffic light. People order party trays, pizza, and generally unhealthy eats. OR they go to sports bars to watch the game...not exactly economical or healthy.
This is not to complain, mind you. I'm all for easy solutions to meals for a crowd! My complaint is that those not home cooked occasions can turn into days , and weeks , very easily.
My ideal would be to have the same people who want to eat during the game be the same people who shop for and then cook for the event.
If everyone in the house who eats spends some time in the kitchen preparing, cooking, and cleaning up, life would be much nicer.
